Just as the ECAIA ionizer, the ECAIA carafe uses the filter technology by SANUSLIFE® INTERNATIONAL. The filtering and ionization process takes place in the ECAIA cartridge. Special bioceramics take over the mineral ionization without electricity.

Attention: Depending on the mineral composition of the water, the ionization performance may vary. Therefore, a strong ionization cannot always be guaranteed, which is why a low to very low pH and/or a redox value in the plus range is also possible.

The treatment of water with the ECAIA cartridge is divided into 2 phases:

Phase 1 – Purification

Just as ECAIA Filter No. 1 and No. 2 of the ECAIA ionizer, the ECAIA cartridge of the ECAIA carafe contains activated carbon granulate. Depending on the pollutant load, a low to very high filtration performance with regard to the pollutants most frequently occurring in drinking water can be achieved. This means you will achieve values that are often significantly below the limit values specified by the drinking water ordinance.

Please note: in areas with very hard water, a high ionization performance cannot be guaranteed and therefore a low to very low pH and/or a redox value in the positive range is possible.

Phase 2 – Mineral ionization

Special bioceramics, made from minerals and metals, react with water upon contact and enable the mineral ionization. Through this chemical process, the water acquires the same properties it also acquires when treated by electronic water ionizers. It becomes more alkaline, richer in oxygen and more antioxidant (rich in electrons).

Knowledge about water treatment with carbonized minerals and metals is very old and especially wide-spread in China, Japan and Korea, where ceramics were already fired between 3000 and 2000 years ago. Subsequently, functional ceramics have been developed that can change the pH and redox (ORP) values of water.

SANUSLIFE® INTERNATIONAL has taken up this ancient knowledge. Numerous tests were performed in order to determine the weak points of earlier filtration media and adapt them to the properties of today’s water. Almost everything was revised in the process, from the materials and the burn time to the recipe.

Depending on the original water, a pH of up to 9.5 and an ORP value of more than -100 mV can be achieved.

An environmentally-friendly cartridge replacement

Water is often purchased in practical, disposable plastic bottles. This convenience, however, leaves traces in the environment. Water in plastic bottles causes piles of plastic waste: approximately 89 billion liters of water are bottled in plastic bottles annually worldwide; and 80% of these bottles are not recycled. In addition, the production of a plastic bottle consumes great amounts of energy and clean water. From an ecological point of view, the production of disposable plastic bottles is completely unreasonable for drinking water. With the ECAIA carafe you can produce quality water and contribute to saving the environment, because the carafe works with a single large filter cartridge which only needs to be replaced once every 2 months.
